Progress...NOT...Perfection!
Greetings to all AND Happy 2025!!!
Welcome to all my readers, both old and new! I’ve been writing newsletters, blogs, and books since 2015, and many of you have followed me on this journey. I finished this third newsletter on Monday, 6 January 2025. You’re getting it today, 8 January, for a reason… you’ll see at the end. I’ve named the Newsletter “Progress…NOT…Perfection” because I’ve learned that in Recovery, I will NEVER be perfect. My recovery will NEVER be perfect. This life that we all live… is NOT perfect. However, in each phase of our lives, we can, if we desire, make progress. More on this as I proceed. But first… ?
You, my reader, may be asking, “Is this Newsletter ONLY for people in Recovery?”
No… a resounding NO!
Your next question might be, “Is this newsletter only for alcoholics. Again… NO. Although my own experience in recovery has dealt primarily with alcohol… If you or a loved one are in a 12-Step Program…WE HAVE MUCH IN COMMON.
So… why change directions from my Blog to this Newsletter? Why? I firmly believe and know that more individuals, families, co-workers, friends, acquaintances, and even our perceived enemies are touched by the disease of alcoholism than me writing about random events and subjects in a blog. I hope that makes sense to all of you, whether you’re a casual drinker, a tea-toddler, or even a possible alcoholic.
What I intend to write in this Newsletter will stem from my 27+ years of sobriety, along with my 29 years of drinking.
It’s vital for me to acknowledge that I am alive today for three primary reasons: One, my Higher Power, whom I choose to call God; two, The Rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous and the 12 Steps; three, my Sponsors, of which I’ve had three.
Each Newsletter will begin with a short story, followed by a “Did You Know” section, followed by Thoughts for a Spiritual Awakening.
In 2025, I will end each newsletter with a Video which will have relevance to that week’s newsletter OR sometimes not. 🙂 Afterall, as the author, I do have some independence with content. But all will have meaning.
All comments are most welcome. Your input can be provided at the end of each newsletter post with those comments!
AND… please pass this on to people not on my distribution list: your family members, friends, co-workers, others you may know already sober, and yes, even those you perceive as enemies. Ask them to SUBSCRIBE to this newsletter by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and submitting their email address.
So, as I’ve ended many blog posts with one word from the 1960s, I’ll begin this newsletter journey with that same word.
PEACE.
